got this little one today. Passed everything with Poland bottled spring water. water first, then water with a drop of white vinegar, then 2 more plain water before brewing the cup. I used the supplied cup and filled it about an inch from the top, using 2 heaping tablespoons - the basket was about half full. Made a decent cup of coffee at a nice and hot temperature. I drink it black and it stays hot enough in the cup. I usually pour boiling water through a ceramic cone and a Melita #6 filter to avoid plastic, so I think this device tastes a bit like plastic. Maybe that's just what I'm looking for - it's not overwhelming and definitely tastier than deli coffee. I think it's a good choice for a late night, sometimes an extra cup is needed and the morning kettle is empty - I drink coffee all day - a few sips here and there, probably about 4 cups a day loose. for $15 and i can use my regular coffee which is good. UPDATE: I just tried using a paper filter in the basket and it improved the flavor - it got a little smoother and no grinding at the bottom of the cup and also made cleaning the basket easier. I cut the bottom of the #6 Mellite filter to fit the basket. Fits pretty well. Sometimes I use this for my first cup in the morning before brewing a full cup which takes a while - Handy little coffee maker
