At the time of purchase (I was one of the lucky ones who pre-ordered before the page was removed) the most expensive PCIe Gen 3 drives were priced right for this drive. So it was very nice of Corsair to get PCIe Gen 4 speed at no extra cost. I have two of these in RAID 0 on an MSI X570 Ace motherboard. The resulting 2TB RAID 0 drive is then split into two volumes: a 450GB partition for the operating system (Windows 10 64bit Home) and the remaining space is a volume where I install the things I need I want to access at PCIe Gen 4 speeds. The drives themselves are incredibly fast. Yes, you really need PCIe Gen 4 if you want to take advantage of the speeds these drives can deliver. Unfortunately, the current implementation of RAID 0 in the MSI X570 Ace isn't very good; the speed gain of RAID 0 is negligible; You get 90% RAID 0 speed simply by using the drives as standalone non-RAID drives. This varies from motherboard to motherboard, so your mileage may (and will) vary. The drives run cool thanks to their huge heatsinks. In my opinion, Corsair shouldn't have pre-assembled heatsinks, since many motherboards come with integrated cooling solutions with active cooling for m.2 drives. Users can either use heatsinks or not depending on their use case. Apart from this small thing I have nothing to complain about. These drives are inexpensive, very fast and work perfectly. Corsair kicked this out of the park.
