Review on Bussmann HHM Mini Line Holder by John Murphy

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great connector for automotive applications! Ham is a must.

Fuse holder comes with 12 gauge wire. It accepts "mini" automotive fuses, also known as APM or ATM. This is the smaller of two types of fuses that are very common in new cars. The larger fuses that this holder will NOT accept are the "regular" fuses, also known as APR, ATC or ATO. A fuse is not included, allowing you to select the correct fuse for your application. As I answered in the question on the product page. Note that the maximum allowable current through 12 gauge wire cannot be answered simply. (See http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm) With 9 amps you can feel safe. Do more homework on your application specs and you could be fine with 41 amps or more. The holder is definitely waterproof, ideal for automotive applications. I wouldn't test the water resistance by submerging it in water. The ends are prepared for connection with joints. I connected one end to the car battery with a ring terminal and the other end with 12 gauge wire with a butt joint. Heat shrinkage is useful to slow down oxidation. My assignment was to hook up a ham radio transceiver about 6 feet away that could put out 50 watts of power. I connected the transceiver to two sets of red and black Anderson Power Pole connectors, which is almost standard in the ham radio community.
