Review on Derby Originals Waterproof Breathable Insulated by Danae Velasco

We had to work very hard to find the right coat for our Malamute. She is 28 inches from neck to tail, has a girth of 38 inches and weighs 133 pounds. This is the fourth coat we have bought and finally the one that suits us. The strap is a little long, but since it's velcro I can cut it off when I'm sure it fits me best. The coat falls well down the sides and due to its shape it actually tucks a little below her stomach leaving only about 2 1/2 inches open which helps her stay a little dry underneath. I like it. Contrary to the photos our jacket has two buckles in the front (perhaps because of the size?), an improvement in my opinion, because of the extra depth mentioned above it also goes a bit lower on the chest, again just helping more to keep it dry. The side gussets are very good and roomy, which allows her to run at full power, and the coat sits motionless on her. It's easy to put on, I just left the front buckles fastened and slipped it over my head and down. This is her first jacket and she didn't seem to mind at all. I'll add a photo later and update the review after a few wears, but for now I'd say it was a good choice. This is a very well made jacket. Updated 1st January 2020. Our Mal has worn it 3 times now and it works very well. It stays in place and when I took it off her back wasn't too warm and completely dry. So far very happy with this product. I haven't cut the velcro that's too long, but since it didn't get in the way, I'll wait to be sure.
