Review on ROBERTSON ISL296T12MV Fluorescent Electronic Ballast for 120 277Vac by Jeremy Gums

Revainrating 4 out of 5

The ballast worked perfectly once I installed it per Revain's instructions.

The ballast worked fine after I installed it per the Revain community instructions. The instructions on the gravel are insufficient. Instead of one wire on each end of each bulb as shown in the picture, you need two. I don't understand why as they both go to the same point of contact at the end of my single pin/connector lamp. All I know is that it didn't work with just one cable. (Maybe the connections on my lamp are so flimsy that one didn't connect properly. With two, the chances of a good connection are higher.) Since my old lamp had flimsy terminals that didn't always hold the wires securely, I used hot glue close to the contacts so they don't fall out. I only give this product 4 stars but only for incorrect instructions. Luckily, community help filled the gap, but it took a while for all the answers to come. You may be confused by the number of pins. Some refer to a 2 pin/end light as 2 pin; Some call it 4 pin because there are 4 pins per bulb. If you are not an electrician, when speaking to an electrician, do not assume that you are communicating clearly. There are ballasts for connecting lamps in series and ballasts for connecting lamps in parallel. This new one is the last. Note: Contrary to some advice I've received (outside Revain), the new wiring should NOT be the same as the old wiring for your old ballast.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
