Simple and efficient

The new electronic ballasts pack a punch compared to the old magnetic ballasts, being flicker-free, quiet, small and light (not to mention efficient). The new ballasts are simpler than the old ones and require fewer connections which can confuse the inexperienced despite the wiring diagram on the ballast. Assuming the device has the usual "break" pins on one end (one has two white wires, the other two black wires, and the main AC power goes to one of them), the easiest way is to cut all the…

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket

The ballast worked fine after I installed it per the Revain community instructions. The instructions on the gravel are insufficient. Instead of one wire on each end of each bulb as shown in the picture, you need two. I don't understand why as they both go to the same point of contact at the end of my single pin/connector lamp. All I know is that it didn't work with just one cable. (Maybe the connections on my lamp are so flimsy that one didn't connect properly. With two, the chances of a good…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Fantastic improvement!

Replaced an old magnetic ballast with this in an 8ft T12 2 bulb fixture. Wow! I can't believe how much brighter the light is now compared to other identical lights in my garage. Note that if you are replacing an old magnetic ballast you will need to connect the wires differently, but it is very simple and the wiring diagram is printed right on the ballast. Basically just attach the blue wires one at a time to the two lamp sockets. at one end, then attach both lamp sockets to the red wire at the
