Don't know which pillow to use? That can help.

If you're like me, you've read all this information about weight, compression, etc, trying to decide what size and style of pillow would work best for your project. The specs provide good information, but not necessarily all that useful information if you're not already experienced with these things. I certainly didn't - the pillows I remember from the '70s would flatten out as soon as any weight fell on them. Maybe my experience will help you decide. I have a power wheelchair that I spend a lot of time in due to my disability. I'm a tall guy and weigh 275 pounds. As much as I love my 1.5x wider chair, it could have been much better padded. It caused me pain and skin irritation. I looked at prices for newer, higher quality chairs and then started looking at cushions. After much confusion, I finally decided I just had to try one and move on. Being heavy, I was concerned that many of these pillows might not be up to the task. I almost went for one of the 4 inch sizes but was concerned it might not fit the chair properly. This three-inch seemed suitable to me. I couldn't choose anything better. This is a firm pillow that can easily support the weight. And comfortable. They rate it at a density of 1.8 and a compression of 36lb. If you want softness, look for a slightly lighter compression weight. I know it says medium density but I can't imagine anyone wanting a firmer pillow than this and I like it firm. Most likely, you will like this pillow. If I were to put it on a hard flat surface to sleep on then 4 inches would make sense and I would consider it. For my chair needs this 3" was the right choice. I also ordered a micro suede fabric to cover it and it turned out to be very good - feels great against the skin, see here: http ://www.amazon.com/Buckskin-Microsuede-Fabric-Upholstery-Drapery/dp / B00A4GP5WS?ie=UTF8&colid=34CJUJXPNW7ZF&coliid=I12YD0AO9XO1NN&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl that it says medium density but I can't imagine anyone wanting a firmer pillow than this and I like it firm.
