This is a docking station that allows Apple M1 laptop owners to use 2 monitors independently via DisplayLink. I have an M1 Air, the base model, I've tried other cheaper "tricks" but couldn't get my screens to work. That being said, I'm using 2 external displays (Dell E2216H) with a displayport - no lag, no pixelation. I downloaded DisplayLink (NOT an add-on - obviously it breaks things - google it) and it just worked and charged my Air. I'm not happy that I had to pay more than $$$ to use my new laptop on their screens while my old windows work laptop could use them without that particular dock - but at the same time it's great to have 2 Screen. I bought a refurbished unit and although the box it came in was badly damaged, it works great and saved me $50!
