You sent the wrong item.

I have ordered a Targus USB-C Quad Core Docking Station (DOCK570USZ). What I received was DOCK520USZ. The supplied model only offers HDMI. I specifically chose the DOCK570USZ because it has four display ports. In addition, a power supply unit from another manufacturer was supplied with this device. According to the product description, the power supply must deliver 100W of power. The supplied power adapter was rated at 65 watts. The rather drastic deviation from what was described from what was

Very worried that the M1 chip does not support multiple displays!

After I bought a new MacBook Pro M1, I realized that it didn't support multiple displays out of the box. I have two additional monitors that I use. For what it's worth, my previous Intel MacPro was also patchy on multiple displays. They work inconsistently and often one of them has a lower resolution. I could tell the computer had problems. I was looking for a solution to my M1 problem and came across Targus. It does its job well, but you'll need to make sure you've downloaded the driver andโ€ฆ

Apple M1 owners, this is the dock you need for dual screens!

This is a docking station that allows Apple M1 laptop owners to use 2 monitors independently via DisplayLink. I have an M1 Air, the base model, I've tried other cheaper "tricks" but couldn't get my screens to work. That being said, I'm using 2 external displays (Dell E2216H) with a displayport - no lag, no pixelation. I downloaded DisplayLink (NOT an add-on - obviously it breaks things - google it) and it just worked and charged my Air. I'm not happy that I had to pay more than $$$ to use myโ€ฆ

Arrived with loose parts in the hub

I was really looking forward to testing this with my triple 4K monitor due to the limitations of my Mac M1 external monitor, but unfortunately my QV4K came with a decent component rattling in size internally. It could just be a screw, or it could be something more dangerous. Unfortunately, I just can't risk plugging a damaged component that can dump 100W through it into my Mac just to see if it works (and works well) or not, so the investigation stops there. Given that I couldn't find any other

Common denominator as universal

Tried this docking station on several different laptops via USB-A, USB-C (3.1 and Thunderbolt 3). As long as it works, I wouldn't call it "universal". It doesn't use the host's set capabilities, but instead always uses what works on all laptops - DisplayLink. Even on a TB3 laptop that supports DP Alternate Mode, DisplayLink is still used. Why is that important you ask? Well, it's driver based, that's why. I have to open my laptop to enter my BitLocker password or select an operating system toโ€ฆ

Works great with some compatibility issues.

This USB-C dock works as advertised. I use it to connect my Sager NP 9876. Given the size of this laptop, it doesn't move too much, but it's nice not to mess with 4-5 wires when you do this. Those who give it bad ratings because they don't. If you don't have a DisplayPort-enabled USB-C docking port or a non-MTS laptop, do more research. It actually comes with a USB-A adapter too, in case your laptop doesn't have a USB-C port like my "Dock". The important part is that such a docking connectorโ€ฆ

How does this voodoo work? USB C G1 for integrated remote video card

Interesting device. Thunderbolt 3 itself can only output to 2 4k@60hz displays. Most laptops, even if they have two Thunderbolt 3 ports, cannot drive 4x 4k@60hz displays (e.g. Dell XPS 13). The only way to get this equivalent is to connect an external Thunderbolt 3 graphics enclosure. That's exactly what you should do, even if you daisy-chain the dock and graphics enclosure and put a good graphics card. (The only exception is that this works much better on Linux than a typical external graphics

I tried using it with my work laptop, it actually worked successfully with three of the four HDMI ports before Trend Micro or Cylance quarantined the device driver. (I only have three monitors now) It actually worked a second time before the driver was quarantined again right before my eyes. How I knew it was a problem. Since my work refuses to whitelist the driver, I cannot use this dock with my laptop for development work. I have the same laptop for home use and am working on getting it toโ€ฆ
