I bought a 12 inch heavy duty ax file for rough edges and it seems to be holding up well. Ever since my favorite file, the Nicholson Black Diamond, disappeared from the US (files made in Mexico suck), I've needed a quality alternative, and for now, at least, this seems like a viable option. The cuts and turns of the bleed mark the area to be sharpened very well. The handle is possibly the most comfortable I've ever used. I love the rough file so much I just ordered a 12" 'Second Cut' file to go with it and I might get a fine one too. I haven't used this file long enough to rate its durability, but so far it looks like a good alternative to Vintage Black Diamonds.
