I ordered the rounded version of this 3 piece bamboo cutting board set. Surfaces and edges are quite smooth. They are not perfectly smoothed/sanded, but they do not have rough edges or chips. They are very durable and practical. For the last 10 years or more, I have always bought bamboo cutting boards because of their environmental friendliness, affordable price and quality. Bamboo is a renewable wood because it grows back very quickly. This set is a great addition to my kitchen. Like all wooden cutting boards, they require little maintenance. I buy a bottle of regular mineral oil (which is very cheap) and rub it into the boards every few months to keep them looking and feeling nice. I love this 3 piece set. There are never too many cutting boards of different sizes. Depending on the task, I choose a cutting board in different sizes. Only a small board is required for some tasks (e.g. cutting cheese). If I'm preparing a dinner that has a lot of fresh vegetables that I need to cut, I use a large cutting board. The set could probably use a really big cutting board, but it's a good set for most tasks. I usually buy chopping boards with handles that you can grab and pull out of the drawer, but they only have holes, like in this round set. still allows me to get them out of the drawer and also gives more surface area to cut.
