As some other reviewers suggested, installing a 1 " block of wood.

As some other reviewers have suggested, mount a 1-inch piece of wood on the cutting deck before mounting it on the wall to make it easier to grab and place the knives. . The 3/4 inch rod is not thick enough to prevent your knuckles from scratching the wall.
