A leaky dishwasher drain hose that wrecked my media room in the basement prompted me to look for a water early detection system. After reviewing many different options, I settled on this YoLink system. I can't be happier with this decision. I've since bought a few more sensors to add to the system. I was a bit skeptical about this unbranded product at first, but after using it for several months I came to several conclusions: 1) The sensors are very sensitive and specific. As much as I worried about leaks, I'd also had enough of false alarms, especially when the first alarm went off while I was at work and showed water under my son's sink. I came home and thought how unlikely it would be a week after installing the system! Lo and behold, there was a small amount of water under the sink in the closet. Luckily this came from splashing through the not fully caulked rim of the shell. 2) The application is highly customizable and very flexible. You can literally "program" it to alert you in different ways and at different intervals, so you can be notified instantly via SMS or phone alert, while also being able to choose not to be disturbed every five minutes. while you're gone 3) There are different types of sensors that can be used in the same system. This means you can place sensors in the most inaccessible places and/or through the smallest openings etc. 4) Monitoring is absolutely free, while some other well-known brands charge a subscription fee!
