Review on Sony High Speed Ethernet HeroFiber Cleaning by Zach Flores

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Works great for DVD. Shit for Netflix (slow menus, often poor video quality). I do not recommend.

many possibilities. There's a "Netflix" button on the remote, which I like because I basically bought it (along with wanting to watch Blu-ray discs, of course). I've been using it for a while now, and while it plays DVDs well, Netflix pretty much sucks for streaming. Whether it's regular or HD, movies and TV shows happen to get very blurry and then clear again and again. This is very bad. Sometimes it works great throughout the movie, but other times it's almost impossible to see. I've tried the same shows and movies at the same time on the PC we were watching Netflix on and it's always just great when the PC is powering the HD display but when it's being powered by the Sony box. Damn it. I even upgraded my already fast internet connection from 30Mbps to 50Mbps without affecting the video quality from this device. I've tried both wired and wifi connections etc. When I ran a Netflix speed test on a Sony box, it often came out at 10Mbps, so I'm not sure what's wrong with that. I guess, that a PC with a faster processor and a lot more RAM (32GB) might be able to buffer the data to compensate for slowdowns. However, I have a hard time believing this Sony box doesn't have *some* options in this area. TLDR: It's good for Blu-Ray discs so I'll leave it, but it sucks for Netflix streaming so I'll try something else for it. Too bad, because it would be handy not to have another device.
