These attachments convert your tires into studded winter tires. They're not exactly comfortable to put on - if you can get a few guys to hustle you to get you out it'll be quicker and easier - but they'll probably keep you out of trouble. The package does not take up much space in the trunk. We don't have snow yet, so I installed small plastic panels and then rode down and back up the hill in the backyard. It's in a minivan with all-season tires and it's been stuck on that hill before. Today it started with no problems. Attaching the tire changers was easy but frustrating, even on my day ride. At night, in the cold, when the car gets stuck in the snow, that would be a real problem. I suggest you have a flashlight as you will have real trouble getting the straps through the rims if you can't see them. Suggestions: The springs that hold the ratchet locks in place are flimsy. Of the twelve springs, one broke as soon as I pulled the strap back. Although the ratchet and lock still work fine. The kit should include something to grip the straps while threading them through the tires, such as long-nose plastic pliers or a hook. Best would be something that could be slipped through the hole in the rim, grabbed the strap, and then pulled the tool back out with the strap. Most of the dozen straps that required threading were difficult to attach and thread through the rim, and that was during the day, on a clean driveway, in nice weather.
