For my needs, I like this unit. I gave it three stars because it is a little flimsy and suitable for some, but not all shelving applications. The pros: the storage cubes arrived very quickly and were as described. The unit is fun to put together, kind of like a leggo set. Also, the cubes can be arranged in several different ways according to the space you have. The unit is attractive. The little black pieces that snap the shelving together are very clever. The strength of the unit depends on the interconnections made by these pieces: ie the strength of one cube is increased by its interconnections with other cubes. The cons: if one piece is not firmly set in the black connector, several cubes become destabilized and pop out of their connections. I experience this every time I move the shelves, even if the move is just away from the baseboard to clean. I store heavier items on the bottom shelves and mostly light items in the rest of the unit. Some people use this to store children's toys, I personally would not let a child use this unit and risk the pieces moving around and getting destabilized. The upper shelf contents might fall on them. I use it in my tack room to store miscellaneous items and check the connections periodically. Alternatively, you could use twist ties as some have suggested. Bottom line: Cubicle storage is great for eliminating clutter but you need to have an application that does not challenge the integrity of the unit.
