I don't know if I've ever had pot coffee. I live and work in the boogie space with boogie coffee shops and pour over is all the rage. Lines of hipsters paying $7 to $10 to stand for silly coffee for 30 minutes? No thank you. I love good coffee, but I don't pay for it and I don't stand behind it. The coffee shop in my office building got worldwide press for serving a $50 cup of pour over. FIFTY DOLLARS. And the staff gets coffee from there (no one got the $50 but they queue for the regular one). When I was offered this machine I thought well I work in the boogie office so maybe it would be cool to have one for those who like to douse. Yesterday I unpacked the box, got coffee and filters. this morning and let everyone know I'm going to try the car. There I was at 8:15 am, rolling my eyes at all the steps it takes to make stupid coffee. I rolled my eyes as I watched the coffee slowly seep out as I slowly poured the water. I keep thinking it's absurd, I'll never do it again! But I literally had every person in my little office of 8 people standing in the kitchen and everyone was looking at me like I was some kind of alien wizard teaching cavemen how to make fire. Oohs and aahs with every step, nose up, saliva on your lips, easy. expectation. Let me tell you my mind exploded like it was shot out of a confetti cannon after making the first bowl in this thing. Saint smokes, that's good. I also made a regular coffee pot to measure the difference between a regular one and this one, but turns out I wasted a cup of regular coffee because there's no comparison. It takes about four times the grind to brew a cup of coffee, and it takes about 15 minutes (give or take) of manual control, so it's certainly a treat, but I have to admit I really like the end product. Reviewing the machine itself: I think this takes a lot of guesswork. Booji is a safe way to make coffee and it's a good price. The details feel solid and well-made, and there's the added benefit of a coffee maker and kettle combo for people who might want tea too. On the second try I missed hitting further after weighing the coffee and just starting to pour water and there is no way to go back or repeat, I had to scoop out the wet floor because the machine registered that I was had too much soil but I managed to get past it with a little mess. So make sure you click Next at each step. Bottom line: I love it, and now I'm going to work a little early just to make a stupid cup of coffee. call me convert
