Review on Trimmer gasoline STIHL FS 38, AutoCut C 5-2, 0.9 hp, 38 cm by Mateusz Praga ᠌

Thought it would be better, but overall not bad.

I use this scythe for the third season, for mowing a plot of 8 acres, as the grass grows, about once a month. The land is not ideal - pits, tubercles, in some places there are tree roots, etc. Grass, respectively, is also not always lawn. After the first use, I remember I was delighted, because. before that I used electric. Now I’m really thinking about acquiring a stronger machine, because this one copes with the tasks set, but it’s rather weak - the fishing line is less than a kopeck piece, it often breaks off on hard grass, like chamomile, wormwood, I don’t even talk about small burdock. At the same time, a thicker fishing line noticeably strangles and strains the engine, which affects the quality and speed of mowing. It turns out that a neighbor with a more powerful trimmer mows in an hour, I mow two. At the same time, I noticed an important design flaw - the casing that comes with the kit protects very little from grass, everything that is mowed flies back onto the clothes, on a more expensive model the casing is wider, therefore the mower is cleaner. I use the scythe correctly, as recommended by the manufacturer, with the correct oils and fuel, I clean it regularly, so it works like a clock. I recommend it to those who mow lawns with a soft lawn, and do not fight over the weekend with a grown windbreak of burdock, nettle, chamomile and other thistles, while having a lot of time for such entertainment. If I were choosing a trimmer now, I would definitely not read laudatory reviews, but adequately assess that I would not have to mow a golf course, I would strangle a toad and immediately buy a scythe twice as expensive, 2.5 horses already with the necessary nozzles in the kit.

Pros
  • Price, easy start, reliability.
Cons
  • Low power, no belt included, poor protection against flying grass.
