I ran out of space on my external backup drive (USB 3.0 2.5" 5 TB) which averaged 40 MB/s. I bought a Vantec case and installed an 8TB 3.5" 5400 Baracuda drive with an average speed of 175MB/s. The assembly was uncomplicated. There were issues with the USB-C connection, the disk was recognized but worked fine with a USB 3.1 Gen2 connection. Great that they made both cable options available. Runs relatively cool at 119 degrees Fahrenheit. Other comments about the position of the indicator light and where to place the legs seem minor. For me, this configuration was a sweet spot compared to moving to the Thunderbolt 3 variant, which doesn't offer reasonable value for money. I'm happy!
