Review on WEEDO X40 Auto-Leveling Mainboard: Enhanced Precision for 300x300x400mm Prints by Patrick Matin

Convenient and easy to use dual extrusion 3D printer

I'm new to FDM printing, I've only been doing it for about 9 months. So far I've had great success with the Weedo X40, it's almost always worked consistently from day one. Although I barely started tweaking many of the settings, that's mainly because the results were immediately satisfying. You can see some of my prints in the images I've included. I updated the firmware to the latest version available on the X40 wiki page. The interface is very user-friendly, I really like the touchscreen navigation and the menu settings work well for their purpose. Setup processes like the Z-Shift configuration are very easy to follow and the firmware will walk you through each step. I work with WiiBuilder as it was mainly the recommended software on the Weedo website, but I've seen others use Cura. I'm running WiiBuilder and the interface is simple enough so I'll stick with it. My favorite features of the printer are the duplication/mirroring modes, which basically make it so you can cut print time in half when printing multiple copies of a model or symmetrical parts. For example I printed out a Star Wars droid and instead of printing the legs/feet/body/head separately I was able to print both halves/sides at the same time. Or if I'm printing some tools or organizers for games, I'll put them in duplicate mode and have the second nozzle print along with the first - I think as long as the printer still works and the models fit the plate, why not do more of things ? It's almost like having access to two printers instead of one. The auto-leveling feature runs before each print and helps ensure your first layer goes smoothly. I've been able to print some really large items with no raft/margins, adhesion is solid and I'm comfortable placing just about anything that has a nice texture on the plate. When you need to print a lot of small details at once, I used a raft, which almost guarantees good results. not much I need in that regard. But those results were good, and again, the process of setting up a two-tone fragment in WiiBuilder is really simple. I would recommend this printer and suggest joining Discord to discuss tips/tricks/features with other users. This is a really new printer and I hope that its firmware, features and support will be expanded over time.
