Great compact KVM switch for the home lab

I use this in my home lab with Windows and Linux servers. Works perfectly. I bought it at a local computer store. The left and right CTRL hotkeys are handy for scrolling through different computers; It's better than the double-tap scroll lock I had before. And separate buttons for each PC is way better than a button I had to press until I got to the right PC. I had a previous KVM switch from another brand that worked terribly. It was constantly sending out a signal that was slowing down my computers and the screen was blurry. But this shows clarity. My only issue is that the screen position is different on one of the computers, causing me to automatically adjust the monitor every time I log in and out of that computer. But that's not KVM's fault. I haven't tested the audio as this is a home lab so I don't use audio on it but will try and update this review. My only issue is that the ports are located around the switch. I'd rather have them all in the back with the audio in the front so the cables don't get in the way since I have it on my desk in front of the keyboard. But that's a minor annoyance. All in all, this is a very good compact KVM switch if you need one.

Pros
  • USB bus powered: no external power supply required. Hot-plugging a PC for maintenance without disconnecting the KVM switch or PC
Cons
  • Security
