The set I received is very good for the price. It's not bright and shiny. But all the cutting surfaces mate properly, the jaws of the needle nose are aligned and meet full length. The pliers will be a little stiff, but that's the anti-rust coating on the steel. This is bare steel and will rust if cleaned and not lightly oiled. The handles are not smooth, but have a rough feel, but do not slip. I particularly like that the description states that the tools are fully heat treated, with a hardness of 40 RC. I haven't tested the hardness to make sure it's accurate. Steel is not listed but I would expect high carbon alloy steel. The blade should not chip easily, but will cut any aluminium, copper or iron wire and most steel wires with ease. Be careful with hardened steel or hardened stainless steel. With a hardness of around 40 RC, they should slice through anything you come across. Small wire ropes such as clothesline or picture hanging wire (twisted stranded wire) are very stiff and usually require special tools or larger cutters. If you want to give them a shine, use very fine 1000-2000 grit sandpaper and then immediately oil the pliers. These pliers are spring loaded to hold them open. The spring is a small coil spring, which is good and replaced by any small spring, such as. B. a pen can be replaced.
