Before that, for a file archive, I had a RAID-0 (Stripe) of two 2TB WD hard drives with a 64MB cache. The read / write speed was up to 280Mb / s. I bought them used, before that they worked at the NAS in the office. They worked for me for several years and there were no complaints. But time goes by, the risk of at least one of them coming out increases, and the free space is slowly running out, so I decided to send them to rest and buy one larger HDD. In the modern world, more and more people are switching to SSD, so I also considered buying a 7.5Tb SATA SSD, but it cost almost 4 times more than this drive, and the warranty for it was only 2 years (for this HDD 5 years) . As a result, I decided that a SATA SSD of such a volume for such money is a terrible overprice and itโs not worth overpaying for it for the sake of file storage, I bought this hard drive. When connected via a USB adapter to the OS, the disk was defined as a bunch of 2TB each, so I had to open the system unit and connect it to SATA. The write speed is up to 263Mb / s, I think that for the server series it could be more. The data was copied for several hours, the disk lay on top of the system unit and warmed up decently. But I didnโt hear any noise during its operation against the background of the hum of fans from the system unit, no clicks or the like. Inside the system unit with good air cooling, the average temperature is 36-37 degrees. Separately, I note the proprietary WD Dashboard software for monitoring railways. It is not bad, there is everything you need - temperature, status, capacity, speed, extra. tests, etc. In terms of reliability, I canโt say anything yet, because. only a couple of days at work. But in general, the technology of this hundred years old at lunchtime could already make railways cheaper, although I do not exclude that this is a purely local problem in our market. Specifically, this model has an ordinary air gap, models from 12Tb and above are filled with helium.
