The product did not disappoint, the quality pleases.

Before that, for a file archive, I had a RAID-0 (Stripe) of two 2TB WD hard drives with a 64MB cache. The read / write speed was up to 280Mb / s. I bought them used, before that they worked at the NAS in the office. They worked for me for several years and there were no complaints. But time goes by, the risk of at least one of them coming out increases, and the free space is slowly running out, so I decided to send them to rest and buy one larger HDD. In the modern world, more and more people…

Pros
  • + reliability, extended warranty + 256MB cache, data transfer rate is higher than conventional hard drives + relatively quiet + good monitoring software
Cons
  • - write speed could be better - heats up a lot - overpriced

Great value for the money, definitely recommended!

If it weren't for Mom's chia miners, then there would be a good disk. At the current price of 70k +, this is definitely not worth buying. Has pros: * Sustained sequential write speed ~100MB/s. * The price of 25K, at which I bought before the influx of miners * Not noisy Its cons: * It gets very hot, like any other drive stuffed with pancakes to the eyeballs. During the initial copying of 2TB to it, it warmed up to 48 * C in a couple of hours at a temperature in the room somewhere around 25 * C.

I'm a PC builder, I've bought a lot of [hard drives] for example. (WD Blue, WD Black, Seagate BarraCuda, Seagate IronWolf, Seagate FireCuda) In my experience, this is one of the best [Consumer Grade HDDs] in terms of (Value for Money): 1x: Killer; [I HAVE APPROX. 205 MB/s write and 220 MB/s read], which is almost half the speed of a SATA SSD compared to mine (WD Black 130 MB/s write, 135 MB/s read) and both (WD Black and WD Gold are almost the same price, same speed [7200]). 2 - You get twice…

Pros
  • Brilliantly made

Counted from TEN!

Imagine you buy ten pounds of potatoes, pay ten pounds and only get one pound. That's what Western Digital did to me. I bought a 10TB hard drive from Western Digital and found it to be a 1TB hard drive. Precisely marked. Correct model number. Windows correctly recognizes the model, but tells me it's 1100 GB, which is 1.1 TB. NOT 10TB. Just fix it? Oh no. Phone, chat, email. No Answer. Just "We're sorry. We want to help.” Well, in a week I'll have a pound of potatoes in a ten pound sack. So…

Not compatible with Linux

I've tried everything to get LINUX to find GRUB to boot the OS. Absolutely unlucky or the drive is not compatible with LINUX. The hard drive itself works great as a slave, but once you expect it to work as a master for LINUX, it doesn't provide the boot information needed to start the operating system. I tried LINUX MINT (based on UBUNTU). I tried DEBIAN LINUX Original. I have installed LINUX MINT several times without error messages, including installing GRUB. Nothing on reboot! The boot…

Fast, quiet, reliable and cool

This is my sixth WD Gold hard drive. I love her. I have dozens of hard drives. I know what it's like when a hard drive fails. Even with backups, it's a pain. This is unlikely with WD Gold drives as they are the most reliable drives in the industry. I recommend ALL users to buy these enterprise drives and avoid so-called consumer drives. They will probably give you a lot less trouble as they have the best MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) on the market today. It costs a few extra dollars. This…

Pros
  • Specially designed for data center and enterprise storage applications
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Great HDD with decent speed. Check out my video review above

This is my fourth WD Gold drive and so far I have no complaints. I've used almost all major hard drive brands. I've learned the hard way what fails a hard drive. For this reason, it is extremely important to have a backup copy. I hope the WD Gold drives are as reliable as they claim to be. I would recommend that users prefer enterprise class drives over consumer or performance drives. As of today (May 6, 2020), the price of a 6TB gold hard drive is less than a 6TB black hard drive. They also…
