Review on ๐Ÿงฝ 1 Inch Hydronix HX HF45 20BLBK10 Filter Housing by Rebecca Biddle

Good quality: water filter and softener

good quality and workmanship. Strong but very ongoing and exciting threads. Please note that the filter housing key, mounting bracket or screws are not included. I was able to wrap and unwrap 9-10 Heavy Duty Teflon tapes (grey) with a stub or Sharkbite adapter. The filter sump should rotate no more than 5 degrees after hand tightening. In fact I usually hand tighten as much as possible and refrain from using a wrench as an extra measure unless there is a small leak, which by the way can happen many days after installation. Another important point is to make sure the inlet pressure is regulated to 60 psi per the docs on their website for this model. Maximum inlet pressure is 75 lbs. My triple filter assembly (3 of HF45s in series) will leak at the joint between the housing and the oil pan when the inlet water pressure has fluctuated between 65-75psi for weeks and months because it hasn't been adjusted. Without a regulator, the inlet pressure will fluctuate due to the municipal water supply and water hammer in normal domestic use. No seepage/leak occurred after installing the regulator set at 60psi. Finally, a replacement o-ring could be one that fits the Culligan OR-250 or those from Captinoring.com which are a bit thicker, but I find they work better than the original Hydronix O-RING.

Pros
  • replacement water filter under the sink
Cons
  • transparency
