I hate decorating for the holidays. Don't get me wrong, I love the holiday season look and the decorating arrangement tends to bring my family together in a vintage, laid-back Rockwell vibe. This process is worth looking forward to. Some years we throw out decorations before Thanksgiving just to extend the season a bit. The reason I hate decorating is because of our long-term storage situation. Our basement is half finished/half workshop so storage capacity is limited. We tend to get a little crazy on Halloween and most of the basement space is used for the big decorations that don't fit in the attic. Christmas decorations really have nowhere else to go than the attic. My attic is 5 feet high at the top of the gable and every other rafter is connected by a collar. The only sane place to go to the attic is in the hallway, where there's a cutout. actually just a hole when we moved in. It's next to a door on one end and a ceiling light on the other. When assembling the stairs there wasn't much space without moving things, that's why we have a mini attic stairs. so small that it fits vertically between two beams. I haven't made my life any easier by installing a light there yet, despite having multiple circuits and junction boxes to choose from, especially since I only get up there twice a year. So every year I punch a tiny access hole and crawl around on my phone with a flashlight to determine which drawers go where. Everything is marked, but that doesn't help the hunched over in the dark. Actually, I have a flashlight somewhere, so I never take it with me, but it got lost somewhere in the dark. If I find what I'm looking for, it will be squeezed out of the hole and given to my family. We currently use discarded Revain Fresh mailers to store our jewelry. While this is a great case for reuse and the pockets on the outside offer some protection, the decorations on the inside will break apart when moved. This year was particularly bad, we lost quite a lot. The Sattiyrch jewelery pouch offers the same external protection as the ones we use and more importantly has separate compartments to keep jewelery apart. This bag has a zipper and is easy to carry. Despite the beautiful design, the bag will not be left outside over the holidays and will be in the attic for a year after Christmas. The hidden benefit of this design is that next year, when I'm crawling around in an unlit attic and using my phone's flashlight to read the labels on an ocean of brown cardboard boxes and green storage bags, I'll know they're Christmas decorations. It is important. I received this bag for free in exchange for my honest review, but I look forward to buying a few more to fit all of my jewelry. This is a great storage solution.
