Beautiful color! good for me

The photo I attached doesn't really do the color justice. This is the "Silk Brown" color and it looks plain brown in the photo, but in person the print has a gorgeous dark gold appearance with the silken shine. It prints very well, and here I was using a Palette 2 Pro to create a multicolor print - it spliced just fine to the other colors.

Pros
  • Great product, I have found Hatchbox is the best filament for my printer.
Cons
  • Can be difficult to remove support materials without damaging the print

Had high hopes, but silk filament is not for me.

The pink color is pretty, even though it doesn't look like the color in the listing photos, but I learned quickly that the "silk" style is just not for me. Reference my photo with two cookie cutter prints side-by-side. The left cutter is made with a "regular" PLA filament (different brand) and is smooth (it is a blush pink which I prefer). The Hatchbox "silk" pink is on the right. Not only did I experience terrible adhesion problems with this filament, but you can see that it showed every…

Pros
  • a rack for filament rolls
Cons
  • May have inconsistencies in the diameter, causing under or overextrusion

Gorgeous filament, very difficult to print with

This filament is very difficult to work with. I have used a LOT of Hatchbox PLA and will generally use it above other colors. It generally produces fantastic results. I can't get this filament to print smoothly though, in spite of that. And I really want to use it, because it is so gorgeous. The filament sent to me seems to be 'softer' or more pliable than other PLA filaments. I sure wish I had a better name for that. Because of the pliability, my spool has trouble with overhangs all the way…

Pros
  • Really awesome Hatchbox filament. Beautiful color. Shipping was fast from great vendor !!!
Cons
  • May require higher extrusion temperatures than other PLA filaments

Flow issues in my review

This is a review of the Hatchbox Pink filament. Other Hatchbox products are great but this one is really bad. I may have got a bad roll but it just does not print well. It goes okay for a bit and then there is separation on the layers. The 3D Benchy would not print. The body of the little boat printed somewhat but the top just fell apart as it was printing., I thought something was wrong with my printer so I loaded in the Hatchbox Yellow and it printed beautiful with no flaws. Watching the…

Pros
  • Have lots of HatchBox colors and types, all work great.
Cons
  • May require additional cleaning and finishing to achieve a smooth surface

Very Weak Layers, easy to break

Prints like PLA, it absorbs water not as bad as nylon but enough to where I could hear pops after a month in open air. Color isn't really shiny / goldish color even when changing the temperature through it's spectrum. Layers are very Weak and break easy. You drop a part and it's 80% likely to break in someway. Not a bad spool for learning but not at all good for long lasting parts.

Pros
  • PLA (Polylactic Acid) 3D Printer Filament Vacuumed Sealed With Desiccant
Cons
  • Can be challenging to store properly without airtight containers

Shiny and fun filament

Prints were silky smooth, even though I'm printing a bit hot, and dealing with lots of humidity where I live. It's less stringy than some of the other PLA filaments, despite living at sea level less than 20 minutes from the ocean. It even works great at lower bed temperatures (like 35-40c) which is great if you're trying to save electricity after the first 20-30 layers have gone down. Excellent filament if you don't want to sand it because the finish is almost translucent, leaving a neat…

Pros
  • 1.75mm Filament Diameter (Dimensional Accuracy +/- 0.03mm)
Cons
  • May release harmful fumes during printing

Great to work with, surprising color!

I didn't care for the color at first, but I can't find a decent "plain brown" so I figured I would give this a try (my first "silk"). Obviously not the brown I'm looking for (that's on me, not the product), but holy smokes is it pretty when you have a lot of it put together. Little things (bit trays, swatches) don't really show it off that well.I printed a whole insert for Stardew Valley the board game with this filament and it came out gorgeous! No adhesion, no tangle, no clog, no stringing…

Pros
  • Made with premium materials to ensure high-quality prints
Cons
  • May not be as durable as other types of filaments

Printed fine for me

I was a little worried after reading some of the reviews and speaking to a friend with prior negative experience with this filament. I used the Pink Silk PLA, at 210 deg with my CR-10s and it seems to have gone just fine. Ran a large print (40hr, 250g) after this and it also turned out great.

Pros
  • Wide temperature range makes it ideal for various printing applications
Cons
  • Can leave residue on the build plate if not leveled correctly

getting tired of reporting this. :-)

I've had great success with this brand of filament. I seek it out when I need further supplies. Highly recommended, works great for my print rig setup (CR-10S)

Pros
  • Quality assurance guarantees consistent performance with every spool
Cons
  • May cause feeding issues if stored improperly

The wind on the outside of the spool is bad. It was actually wound tight and poorly which cause it to snap when it knotted up. Hatchbox has been better than this up until now. Maybe this one was fluke.

Pros
  • The filament was perfect like all the filament from Hatchbox.
Cons
  • Can be prone to clogging if not used within a certain period of time

Pretty but not strong

I have used this filment on a bunch of different projects. It goes down decent, but it has poor overall strength. If you want pretty it is great, good shine and a pretty light blue color, but it cannot be used for parts that you need to have good shear strength.I think the strength issue is from the composition of "silk" products from Hatchbox. Other "silk" filaments I ordered have the same strength issues.Overall I am a hatchbox fan, but you need to know what to expect in this case.

Pros
  • Environmentally friendly and biodegradable for eco-conscious 3D printing
Cons
  • May require additional cooling to avoid warping

very pretty, well behaved PLA filament

This PLA printed well on my printer, adhering and flowing well at 210C. It comes in a sealed package with dessicant. Package is not resealeble, though. A one gallon ziplock bag works for resealing. The filament adheres well on an unheated bed with gluestick. It really does have a sily finish. The color is golden yellow but not metallic. Pretty ordinary PLA as far as mechanical characteristics of prints. Well wound on spool, with no tangling problems. Will likely buy again.

Pros
  • Designed to work well with a wide range of 3D printing applications
Cons
  • May not work well with high-density print designs

Cute color good for me

I can get this filament to print really well, even better then plain white sometimes. Just be aware that the shimmery quality of the filament means you're gonna see every single bump and scuff. The way it catches light reminds me of pulled taffy, very shiny. It also has a bit of a transparent quality to it, with a regular 2mm wall thickness I can just make out the infill pattern inside.

Pros
  • Comes with a money-back satisfaction guarantee
Cons
  • May require special nozzle settings to avoid blobbing and overextrusion

Straight up gorgeous material

Gorgeous prints with this product. As with all Hatchbox filament I am not surprised. The color is really sweet. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • High-quality 3D printer filament for professional and personal use
Cons
  • Can result in stringing if not calibrated properly

Prints well at 220/65 in my garage

I was having problems with eSun matte black, and I loaded this pink to see if it was me or the filament. Well, this pink prints really well. Layers nicely, has a nice color and isn't too fussy.

Pros
  • Might cost a dollar or two more but it's worth it.
Cons
  • May have problems with layer adhesion depending on the printing settings

Adjust extruder spring tension if necessary

I bought the light blue. Initially, I always had a few skipped or thin layers. I thought it was the temperature. But it turns out that this filament needs a slightly firmer extruder tension than other filaments I had. After adjusting the spring, I can now print without any problems with temp 190 - 230. (The spec of the arrived product says 200-220, different from the listed). Thanks also for the answers in Q&A. Indeed, it is helpful to print a temperature tower (google it) at first to find out…

Pros
  • Dimensional accuracy of +/-0.03mm ensures precise prints
Cons
  • Can be expensive if used for larger prints

Good quality, fast delivery, good plate adhesion.

So far have used the white silk filament with good results at 205 C and 215 C. This filament is as good or better than the MakerBot brand filament and is quite a bit cheaper. Extrudes evenly with a slightly matte finish. This filament adheres very well to the MakerBot Replicator+ build plate which is an unheated bed. The rafts work well for me now.

Pros
  • Neat and tidy winding on the spool for easy printing and storage
Cons
  • Can cause bed adhesion issues if not leveled properly

Pricey, but the results are lovely.

I love these silk filaments. I’ve had no issues printing with them and they look amazing at .15mm layers. They are pricey but if you already use Hatchbox (or the likes) filament then you’ll be used to paying over $20 for a spool of PLA.

Pros
  • Perfect for creating small and intricate parts
Cons
  • May not fit most retractable spools

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Love the color! for my opinion

This is some of my favorite filament. I absolutely love the neutral color, without being a boring white. I would describe it more as a pearl white. I hope they keep making this forever because I'll keep buying it!The only real downsides are that the silk ones like this tend to be more brittle, and they have a very strong sweet smell while printing.

Pros
  • Chemically stable for printing with a wide range of materials
Cons
  • May not work well with some stiff or hard materials used for supports

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not as strong as other Hatchbox

Not as strong as other hatchbox filaments, the color is good, but I was surprised that the quality wasn’t as good as regular hatchbox pla

Pros
  • Advanced processing techniques ensure consistent quality throughout the spool
Cons
  • May require extra adjustment of printer settings when using the first time
