Only good for stuff on a shelf

The problem I have had is the layer adhesion. My mistake was that I didn't think to check the layer adhesion until after I had used most of the roll. Now I have to start over with a different filament. I do like the color, but it is only good for things that will only sit on a shelf.

Pros
  • 1 KG (approximately 2.20 lbs) Spool
Cons
  • May have inconsistencies in color from batch to batch

Didn't work well for me

I don't usually have a problem with Hatchbox Silk PLA, but I ended up returning this because of the stringing, webbing that I was experiencing. This did not happen with the other PLA that I had been using. This one must have been a fluke.

Pros
  • Low moisture absorption rate for reliable and consistent printing results
Cons
  • Can require a dedicated cleaning brush to remove curling around the nozzle and bed

Beautiful Print! good for me

I did a test print at 205C and found that to be the right temp for me. Did a print and it came out beautiful 🤘🤘 That's my review!

Pros
  • Will be buying Hatchbox from now on!
Cons
  • No issue printing, easy to work with but color description is way off. it is orange not gold.

Looks good but layer adhesion is an issue

This material works perfectly fine and looks like a actual pearl as it is more off-white than bright white. The only issue I found is that layer adhesion is not great. Would not use for mechanical parts and I bump up the hotend temp to help with adhesion.

Pros
  • Spool Diameter: 7.88" - Spool Width: 2.69" - Spool Hub Hole Diameter: 2.24
Cons
  • May not be as flexible as other types of filaments

great shine without issues

i've tried a number of silk filaments from other manufactures and had issues with clogs or quality. this silk filament from hatchbox prints as well as any of their basic PLA filaments.

Pros
  • High melting point for high temperature printing applications
Cons
  • May not adhere well to certain print bed materials

Nice sheen, usual Hatchbox quality

This filament performs well. I had to make a slight adjustment and increase my retraction speeds to reduce stringing but overall it's been performing really well. It has a shiny quality to it that's not quite pearlescent or metallic. Makes me want to try the rest of the colors in this line.

Pros
  • Great printing characteristics (low stringing, consistent surface quality, good adhesion). Nice color.
Cons
  • Not suitable for high-temperature applications

Prints well, but not true white.

I was really impressed with how my prints have turned out with this filament. My first print was a cat skull for a presentation, and it looked great. The silky sheen was beautiful. The only downside is that a white filament should be white, not vanilla ivory.

Pros
  • Hatchbox never disappoints. They're becoming my go-to filament manufacturer.
Cons
  • Can be prone to dust and debris accumulation

Great filament, iffy Best Buy store.

I love my hatchbox but shopping with this store has been consistently iffy. Sending the wrong product costing me weeks on projects. Constantly pushing back shipping and delivery dated with no notice or explaination. It gets a little tiresome, otherwise hatchbox easily gets a 4 or 5 on its own merits, excellent filament.

Pros
  • Fácil denimirmir y acabados muy limpios
Cons
  • May require adjustments to your 3D printer settings when switching from a different brand of filament

Pearlescent ; exactly what I was looking for

I was looking for a pearlescent pink for a special project and this is exactly the pink I was looking for. This comes out of the printer as a bubble-gum pink with a "mother of pearl" sheen to it. Prints clean with standard PLA settings (190C Hotend ; Bed Optional).

Pros
  • Non-carcinogenic and low fume emission ensures safe printing
Cons
  • Can be difficult to remove supports from prints

Gold filament: my feedback

I am having problems printing with the Hatchbox Gold. I have never had any issues with any Hatchbox before, but this gold is not printing well. I am still adjusting temperatures and I am getting OK prints, but not what I expect. I hope I can figure out just the right settings.

Pros
  • The Silk filament is great to use, gives a great final coat to my prints! 100% would recommend!
Cons
  • May not work well with some types of support materials

So happy with this filament!

Beautiful filament that prints easily!I purchased the silk mint color PLA and it prints better than other filament I have used so far. I will definitely buy from hatchbox again!

Pros
  • Additive Manufacturing Products
Cons
  • Can be problematic on smaller nozzles as it needs more time to melt

Looks dull until you print it . then WOW

This one looks dull until you print with it, but printed is glossy and metalic. It mostly prints 100% like the rest of the amazon-basics PLA, but it has slightly more tendency to warp. The resulting prints seems just as strong as any other PLA. Pictured is thing:2311870, no post-processing other than removing support.

Pros
  • Non-toxic and safe for home use
Cons
  • May require more cleaning of the bed surface between prints

Dial in your filament and send it

I bought this to print a mondoshawan figure (from the fifth element). I found it very easy to work with. It handles overhangs fairly well, minimal stringing, and you can get a different shine depending on how hot you print it. I've run through half the spool and have not encountered any clogs. I run all my prints through a temp tower test before printing. If I'm finding challenges with overhangs or stringing I will run retraction tower tests and overhang tests but neither were a problem for…

Pros
  • Smooth surface finish for high-quality prints
Cons
  • May cause clogs if used with incompatible extruders

Silk Mint Shallow Color

I was very excited to try this color but found that it printed almost white. However, as the print grew, the color deepened a bit. The silk effect makes the color a bit shallow at certain angles (as shown in the photos). I didn’t except the effect to be so severe based on the promotional photos. It’s an okay color, and the PLA printed well like my other Hatchbox purchases.

Pros
  • Compatible with a wide range of printing filaments, making it versatile and flexible
Cons
  • Can become sticky or soft when exposed to humidity

My preferred brand for printing

This brand is my #1 to use. It works the best for me. As you can see how some of the other options are out of stock, it's because this is one of the better brands and a good value. The gold looks great as well as you can see from my picture.

Pros
  • 3D Printing Filament
Cons
  • Not recommended for large prints as it may result in warping or cracking
