Type of review

Very disappointed first try with this product. Poor quality print right out of the box. Too hygroscopic. Sucks up moisture like a sponge. I don't have a heated box to cook it in yet and my oven will not hold at 120 degrees. But I'm going to build one soon and see of I can save this full roll of useless filament. Right now I vacuum seal all my filament spools with desiccant inside the bag. Then I use my Foodsaver Vacuum sealer. The Foodsaver pulls a hard vacuum in the bag then seals it tightly…

Pros
  • Great quality as expected from Hatchbox.
Cons
  • Limited color options available

Love this stuff - my new review

Love this brand of filament. I can have a spool sitting in my basement open for months and it still prints easily. I tend to appreciate this brand more after I try (usually about once every six months) to by an off-brand spool and try it out just to see if I can save a few bucks here or there. To-date, I get near-instantly disappointed and return to Hatchbox every time

Pros
  • A nice vivid blue filament. This is my first experience with Hatchbox and the quality seems very good.
Cons
  • 1 Kg spool is not as easy to handle as smaller spools

Great product at a great price point

I have been buying hatchbox filament for a few years now, mainly because you cant beat the price for the quality. I have had minimal issues while printing and most f those can be attributed to issues with settings or the machine. I have experienced some warping when I don't put down a fresh coat of glue and swelling in the heatsink when the fan was not powerful enough. I print on a Taz 6 and the filament works great with the polylite PLA profile. I am printing with it while I am writing this…

Pros
  • Great product and fast shipping!
Cons
  • Expensive compared to other PLA filaments on the market

Great filament, stupid size

This is a great filament and compares well to much more expensive Pro PLAs I've used. I have tired of spending twice much at MatterHackers and decided try a roll. I have not been disappointed with the results. I just use the Generic PLA preset on my Ultimaker 3 with the original Bowden tube, only modifying it from 2.85 mm to 3.00 mm . I didn't even slow the print speed. It just works. My Bowden tubes are about 2 years old so I suppose they may be slightly enlarged internally from wear, but I…

Pros
  • the Hatchbox 3D PLA Printer Filament works wonderfully in our 3D Printers
Cons
  • Very stringy, seems weaker than other PLAs.

Horrible spool, brittle filament (orange)

I have reviewed hatchbox before as 5 stars as it is perfect, but until now I have only ordered black and white. The problem with the orange is that it is spooled onto a different spool than their other filaments. This different spool is approx 2.25 inches in diameter whereas the black and white spools have a diameter of 3 inches. This would probably be ok on their black or white filaments as they are more flexible, but the orange is not. Even right out of the sealed bag with desiccant I noticed…

Pros
  • Recommended Extrusion/Nozzle Temperature 180°C - 210°C (356°F - 410°F)
Cons
  • Not as strong as other types of filaments

HATCHBOX is a great brand for you filament

Been printing for a short while now and testing only a few different brands of filament. But time and again I've come back to Hatchbox for their quality. Their stuff just prints nicely, is reliable, and never jams. Using a Lulzbot Mini and 3mm filament, and have been very happy with my results.

Pros
  • Low friction coefficient
Cons
  • Quality may vary depending on manufacturer

Solid results with ultimaker 2+

Probably one of the best brand I found to work well with my Ultimaker 2+Suggested lowering bed temperature to 50C or even 40C to decrease warping at the bed contact. Otherwise consistent colors and consistent print accuracy

Pros
  • Strong interlayer bonding
Cons
  • Can become brittle over time, leading to breakage

This is the PLA filament I've been missing all along

I didn't realize how much I was missing out until I tried the Hatchbox PLA. I'm used to stringly, brittle PLA and thought that's just how PLA was. I was badly mistaken. Hatchbox PLA is solid, beautifully opaque, has a good shiny finish when printed, and flexes very nicely without snapping. I've stopped by search for PLA and will buy from Hatchbox from now on. I hope the other colors perform as well as the white filament I bought.

Pros
  • High tensile strength
Cons
  • Quality may suffer during printing due to improper spool management

Consistant for my opinion

I have had the filament break a couple times during a print, but it prints consistently with good color and allows for accurate prints. I found 207C works great for my temperature. Will definitely be buying this again.

Pros
  • 3D Printing Filament
Cons
  • May not be sustainable or environmentally friendly

My go to 3d Filaments

It's a very good, reliable, strong product. I use it for every. I have been told about other products and more expensive, but don't see the reason for them.I get a good result and quality from Hatchbox. ebay has made it my go to 3d filament. To make it better Hatchbox should offer a package deal or quantity discounts.

Pros
  • {}
Cons
  • Not recommended for outdoor use due to susceptibility to UV damage

1.75 is good, this 3.0 is awful.

Used this filament with a Lulzbot Taz 4, and I had the worst time with it. I'm not sure if its because its 3mm filament because their 1.75mm filament works fine on my kit printer. This filament however kept breaking because it was so brittle, and it was impossible to get it to stick to glass with a heated bed. When I did finally manage to get it to stick using blue painters tape it would still warp pulling the tape up with it.I'm working on a project and have gone through the two spools I…

Pros
  • Excellent layer adhesion
Cons
  • May require additional support structures than other filament types

This filament is 3.0mm as stated. Most "3mm" filament is actually 2.85 to allow for bowden tube extruders. This filament being 3.0mm leads to too much friction in a bowden tube and causes failed prints. On a direct drive extruder it works fine. If you are using an Ultimaker this filament isn't recommended.

Pros
  • Resistant to UV light
Cons
  • Can be affected by moisture, leading to poor quality prints

Most reliable PLA filament we've used so far

By far, the most consistent PLA filament we've used for printing at a fraction of the price that some of the first-party printing companies are charging. This is highly recommended.

Pros
  • Compatible with common print settings
Cons
  • Can break easily during handling or transport

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good quality prints

Good quality prints, still snaps if you put some effort into it but doesn't even come close to the dry spaghetti that some other brands try to imitate.

Pros
  • Used on several different printers always very good
Cons
  • May require additional support structures for complex prints

On the plus side, it was cheap.

My first two spools of PLA I bought from Ultibots, the guy who made my kit, and they worked great. I bought this spool for its fast delivery, and it's pretty crummy. The parts I made with it have lots of zits, suggesting moisture or other impurities in the filament. They're also much weaker, prone to splitting and breaking. Superglue, which works great on other PLA, wouldn't stick to the stuff, which makes me think there's something really weird in there.update: after downgrading my GizmoDorks…

Pros
  • Can withstand high temperatures
Cons
  • May not work well with high temperature printing processes

flexible and true thickness provides a good print!

Very nice product. Makes printing a breeze. Flexible , sticks well to painters tape. I love it. The true consistent 3 mill thickness provides a unattended print.

Pros
  • Exceptional print quality
Cons
  • More prone to stringing than other filaments

Great quality prints, but small diameter reels

I have to say that my best quality prints have come from this filament. After experimenting with several different filament brands, I have to say that my best quality prints have come from this filament. Of course every printer will be different, but this is simply what has worked for me.I will say though that the reels that Hatchbox uses are rather small diameter, which leads to the filament being very tightly wound up as you come to the end of the reel's life. I'm still working on the first…

Pros
  • Minimal stringing
Cons
  • May produce prints with visible layer lines

Unbagged spool of filment, loose in box

A bit dismayed at the packaging, or really lack of packaging. The spool of filament was loose in an ebay branded box. The box being bigger than the spool. No bag with absorbent material to absorb moisture. The spool is a bit banged up from transit as well.I'm considering returning it and asking for a refund.

Pros
  • Smooth surface finish
Cons
  • Can be difficult to troubleshoot printing issues

super easy to work with

supper easy to work with and a nice color for a reasonable price. i will probably be buying all my pla from this seller.so far every product i have gotten from them has been great.

Pros
  • Consistent color
Cons
  • May not work well with larger prints due to printing speed limitations

Dependable - my new review

Very dependable. Has great adhesion and extrudes smoothly. Also, it is not too brittle.I have use many PLA filament brands in my 3D printing business, and Hatchbox's white, 3mm, PLA filament is exceptionally fantastic. I will definitely buy this brand in the future.http://www.makexyz.com/printer/polygon3d_printing

Pros
  • prints great. dimension is spot on
Cons
  • Can be brittle and break easily
