Review on ๐Ÿšฒ Ultimate Safety and Style: BELL Super DH MIPS Adult Mountain Bike Helmet by Hunter Siemon

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great DH rated helmet

This helmet is fantastic. Feels very durable and the fit is nice and snug. I was between choosing this helmet and the Giro Switchblade which also looks like a great helmet. I compared the reviews here on the mountain bike forums and on youtube and chose this helmet for a number of reasons. Airflow - I live in Arizona so I wanted this helmet as it has more vents which should help with airflow during the summer months2. The weight. Bell weighs noticeably less than Switchblade, which is good for long tours. The last thing you need while horseback riding is neck pain from horseback riding. The added weight of the mount and Go Pro can add up quickly.3. Chinbar - I liked the method of attaching the chin bar better than the switchblade. As there is no formal chin bar locking mechanism on the Switchblade, several riders on the forums have reported that the chin bar is quite flimsy and tends to fall off in a hard crash4. Warranty. The warranty of both companies seems to be quite similar. Both offer a 1-year warranty against defects and both have a crash replacement program. Bell offers crash replacement in both the United States and Europe, while Giro only offers an exchange program in the United States. All in all I'm very happy with this helmet and I hope I never have to find out how well it performs in a crash. What bribed me the most in my research was that I googled both "Giro Switchblade default" and "Bell Super DH default". There you can find various knowledgeable forums and see what I mean by Jiro's chin.

Pros
  • Easy to fit
Cons
  • Slightly torn
