Review on 💾 LaCie P3 HD 500GB with FW400+ and 8MB Cache by Brandon Havlicek

I have 8 250GB versions of this drive (which I really liked) and was about to buy 2 more when I found this one. As expected, it's almost identical to the smaller version, except it has twice the storage space. However, I noticed that the power supply is not interchangeable with a smaller version and the on/off switch is not a toggle switch but a push button. Also, when I turn it off, the drive doesn't automatically mount on my Mac when I turn it on again, which is different from the 250GB version - I have to mount it manually using Disk Utility. I'm not sure what it's about, but since I usually just leave it on, it doesn't really affect me. I've had several 250GB (Firewire) versions of this drive running non-stop for over two years, so I'm optimistic about these as well. I've been using the 500GB version for a few weeks now and haven't noticed any performance issues compared to the smaller version. So far, so good.
