Review on 📷 Unleash Your Sony Alpha 7C: SmallRig Camera Cage (A7C - ILCE7C) - 3081 by Jodi Tisdale

I bought this not only to help with attachment to my 7c but also to provide protection and better grip. I mainly use my camera for video, so photographers may have a different perspective. First remove the tiny D-rings from either side of 7c. For video users, they have a constant tone anyway. Then remove the small screw on the right side of the cage. Then remove all the lenses from the body 7c and attach the body to the bottom screw. Then screw in the small screw on the right side of the cage where the D-rings used to be. That's all. The cell fits like a glove. All functions are available. The battery compartments can be opened completely and the battery slides out very easily. I'm not sure why the other reviewers had issues. I was concerned that the cage would add too much volume. But it fits like a glove, looks fairly discreet and adds next to nothing to the size of the camera. The small size is offset by the fact that the bottom of the cage is a pole compatible mount. I often carry my camera on a mini tripod and the omission of the arc plate not only balances the bulk but also makes my camera much more stable when mounted on a flat surface. Overall I like it and I can only recommend it. A few things. I would like to have NATO rails installed in the top and sides. If you want to use HDMI or USB connections, there is no way to find a suitable clamp. I contacted SmallRig and they have confirmed that not only is there no compatible model, but they have no plans to build one. This will end the deal for me, but my a7c camera is my portable setup, so I don't plan on using the HDMI out much. What's the downside? Arca floorplate. If you use the arca clip that comes from above, everything is fine. But I have a few Arca mounts that require the bottom plate to slide in from the side. That's impossible with this cell. Look closely at the underside of the Arca's base on this cage. The bottom left corner goes up so you can't put it in the Acarca's clamp.
