I've dithered back and forth over this bag for months. I saw it in the store, tried it on and thought it was too big (and expensive) but I still wanted a good shoulder bag and kept thinking and chasing. I saw it drop below $200 and bought it with the intention of returning it. I figured once I get it home and try it on my stuff I'll find a reason to return it. Well he has it in sleek black and it's so beautiful and versatile I left it. I justified my investment with the knowledge that this is a quality brand and simple enough to use for years without going out of style. I bought a Melissa bag off eBay and resold it because it was heavy and bulky. I have a feeling Melissa the drifter doesn't have that problem. It adapts to the shape of the body when worn and can be worn over the shoulder or crossbody. The long strap is detachable. I placed the grip in either the front or hip and had no issues. The only drawback is that there is no key ring inside, so I have to use one of the three key pockets. This particular color also has a black lining but that wasn't a problem as I use a makeup/lipstick/hairband pouch and have a large accordion purse which is easy to find. I also have a Melissa shoulder bag which is also a great mom bag and can hold a ton of stuff. Added a photo for size comparison. I feel they are better made than PVC bags from Kate Spade or MK etc. Also since I got the smooth black leather it doesn't have any scratches like the others but my shoulder bag is brown (it's 2 years old) and these Scratches are mixed so it doesn't bother me in any way. Just thought I'd mention that the smoothness might not show up as much.
