.makes it very difficult to shorten the pad (its REALLY long). I had to detach the pillow part, shorten from the top of the pad, and then seal it and sew the pillow back onto the pad, being careful to stitch along the sealed part. It came out great, and I eliminated about two feet of unnecessary material, significantly lessening the weight and bulk. The pad itself is really comfortable. Have yet to test it in cold conditions, but I don't roll off the edges of it like I do other pads. Overall, great buy.
