This is a wonderful set of colored watercolor pencils. After drying, they are like any other colored pencils. But you can dip colored lead in water to soften it. Or use a wet paintbrush for endless color blending, blending, and blending possibilities. 72 colors is awesome. I would prefer the pencils to be colored on the outside with the colors of the lead on the inside. It really helps identify colors quickly. Instead, all pencils are black. And only the ends show the true color of the pencil lead. I sharpen my pencils with an electric sharpener when they are completely dry and they come out great. The set comes in a beautiful tin box. It also comes with a small brush to get you started. My kids love this set! We use it for entertainment and in art classes.
