The LG 34BK95U-W / LG 34WK95U-W works great as a non-HDR ultrawide display. It doesn't work as an HDR monitor. At the moment, HDR actually degrades the monitor's color reproduction and reduces the resolution. HDR actually looks bad compared to using it as a standard 5120 x 2160 ultrawide display. HDR, which is only supported by DisplayPort 1.4, doesn't work properly on this monitor with macOS Catalina 15.5.4. Issues on a 2019 16" MacBook Pro. Catalina 10.15.4: - When switching from DisplayPort version 1.2 (default) to 1.4 when connected to a MacBook Pro, the monitor goes black and freezes. Switching from DP 1.2 to 1.4 only works when not connected to an MBP. - Colors are washed out when using HDR Catalina mode. - In HDR mode, the maximum resolution is reduced to 3840 x 2160. This is a 16:9 aspect ratio, with black bars on the left and right of the display. If you want an HDR monitor for your MacBook Pro, don't buy this monitor. LG and Apple need to better optimize the driver for macOS before this monitor can become a true 5K HDR display.
