I chose this other alternative because of the tear off feature and because it was real leather. It looks and feels like plastic to me, but it could just be cheap leather. My biggest complaint is that the small bar of spikes is quite short and due to the arrangement of the notches, it falls on the underside so you can't see it. In addition, my kitten is only three months old, which is quite a lot for him in the smallest of circumstances. Obviously he'll grow into it just by pointing it out...a good price for a cat collar and the tear off feature seems solid. In general, not the worst and not the best ...
