Pros: - Small size with low profile bracket included - Based on a common Marvel chip - PCI -E x1 (unlike other brands with PCI-E x4) - 6 SATA III ports at 6 Gbps - * No RAID or configuration support, so no accidental data loss. - If you buy the kit, you will get 6 SATA cables and a power connector splitter, although the splitter is only suitable for 4 hard drives. - I bought 2 and they work smoothly in a system and attach 10 disks (I put 5 disks in each card). Cons: - Power connector splitter included for 4 drives, not 6. It would be better if two 3-port splitters were included instead. * For me, the lack of RAID support is a positive. The SATA controllers I replaced with these had a knob on the back that could be rotated to set RAID modes or simply act as an expander. I didn't like this as I always do manual backups and never use RAID and it always bothered me that I accidentally turn the dial to RAID mode and lose all my data. So if, like me, you're looking for a simple solution to expand your motherboard's SATA ports, you'll be very happy with this card. Remember to install the supplied driver (Marvell 9215).
