Review on Syba SD PEX40054 Port SATA Hyper by Dave Johnson

7/31/14: I believe the external ports for this card should be enabled by moving jumpers on the board. However, this is not clearly stated in the instructions. If you don't, you won't be able to use this card to connect to an external drive. From the manual it says you can only enable 2 internal ports, only 2 external ports or 1 internal port and 1 external port at the same time. On Windows 7 64-bit, my 1TB Samsung EVO SSD was reading 100-120MB per second. on the SATA II connector on the Asus P5ND motherboard, according to the Samsung "Magician" testing software that came with the drive. Magician now reports over 500MB read/write speed after inserting the card into the PCI Express 2.0 slot on the motherboard. Some people complained about loading delays after connecting this card. I'm not using it as my primary boot drive yet, but the only boot lag I see is a 1 second text referring to the SSD, which was not present prior to installing this card. This seems normal as it shows the status of all my connected drives during boot. Make sure you check the Syba website for the latest drivers. Amazing card.
