We have used this lock and cord while traveling in Asia. Part of traveling is paying attention to how you and your belongings are kept safe and sound. We always lock our bags and when we left the room for the day we used the cord to lock our bags together. When we could, we also used a cable to attach our bags to furniture. Every tourist and traveler should take a lock and cable with them. If someone is really determined to steal your stuff, they will find a way, but it's a deterrent that makes things a lot harder, and at least slows them down. The cord and lock are great when you are on the bus or train. We used it on the train to attach our bags to the luggage rack. It worked great and we were sure that our bags wouldn't be stolen when we got off the train.
