This wheel is equipped with a cork insert that makes it easier on the gerbil's paws. So they have a lot of fun running. However, the cork is only glued in one place and eventually detaches. This is ensured by Elmer's glue on the entire cork backing. The wheel has a rim around the hole. Sandpaper should be used to remove rough or sharp edges. It's okay, this wheel is glued, so it needs to be washed with a damp cloth or good quality paper towels. Don't get the wheel wet or it will fall apart. Although it's not the best quality, my gerbils enjoy the comfort of their paws and run on this balance bike every time they get the chance.
