In my opinion, the 2500K is the best, cheapest, and fastest overclocked member of the Core i5 series for gaming purposes. Previously, I had a motherboard with a Z68 chipset and a 2550K CPU, but I recently upgraded to a Z77 chipset with a 3570K CPU and am quite pleased with the results. I was duped by VIRTU and PCI-E 3.0 technology, and the sad outcome includes increased heat production, reduced or unchanged performance, and a price tag of $2022. While Intel's latest CPU innovations are a boon for portable gadgets, they're a step back for desktop gaming PCs, and not just a step back, but rather a stride toward marking time at the expense of regular mortals.
