This speaker is used with the Icom IC-F221 UHF mobile phone. While the built-in front speaker performs well, the external speaker shows an exponential improvement. Strong stations have a rich, warm sound. Fuzzy HTs are more understandable and less disruptive. It would be hard not to improve the sound of most mobile phones with an external speaker.
