I am happy with the machine I received. It's all metal and was well lubricated from the factory, so it took a little cleaning to get it working without smearing oil on the project. A person can modify the machine somewhat according to their needs or skill level. I made a small $3 tree scrap base that I can attach to my desktop or desk. It's not fashionable, just functional. I also repositioned the spool pin using some wooden dowels and small brass eyebolts for maybe $3 more. That saved me from breaking the thread. I don't use it for leather goods, but I have repaired and made various outdoor items that I would otherwise have to take somewhere to sew. I have also enjoyed using this machine for various personal leather projects. The car is easy. As with anything, the machine's settings and SKILLS should and can be learned and developed by anyone with a little thought and patience. There are many videos to help a person figure this out. You helped me.
