Review on 🀡 Boys' Classic Black Tuxedo Suit & Sport Coat by Spring Notion by Rod Evans

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Nice suit with black tie but lots of polyester which some may not like

Every year I take my young son to an opera or two or two here in San Francisco and we wear often Black tie (informal evening dress). As my son has outgrown his latest black tie suit it was time to order something in return and we decided to take a chance. The tuxedo arrived fine just a few days after ordering and at first glance it appears to be slightly larger than Spring Notion's size chart. The main thing I don't like about this suit is that it contains a lot of polyester. This gives the costume a slight "shine" overall, which I think is dubious in terms of taste. If you're buying this for a 3 year old most people probably won't notice or notice, but if you're buying this for a 12 year old that others will see then the sheen of polyester may not be for you. Style. I knew from the description that the formal shirt included in the set was mostly polyester, but I assumed the suit itself would be a wool/cotton blend, which is not the case. Because of this, I'm trying to decide whether to return it or not. Although it is advertised as "Made in the USA" it is actually made in Indonesia (which is fine) but I just thought interested readers would like to know more about it. It also has a slight bulge near the shoulders and an odd fit. I can't say I don't like it and I have a feeling most parents would be happy with a $50 or so suit, but personally I think I just expected a little bit more. Three stars so far and I will be rating a few more in the coming months. Standard for an informal evening dress, but I couldn't (at least at Revain). The formal shirt does not have double French cuffs as it was intended to be used with cufflinks, and the shirt has regular buttons with no room for proper rivets on the shirt. The waistcoat provided is also polyester and has a satin front throughout, which is a departure from the classic style of only satin or grosgrain lapels on the waistcoat. The waistcoat also has three buttons and does not have a deep V-neckline. as you will find on classic British tuxedos. I don't think these small changes will affect most people, but there might be a few classic people who would be interested.)

Pros
  • Tuxedo
Cons
  • Not as thick as the other options
