This monitor fits the bill. I got it for two reasons: First, my daughter's laptop screen broke so I wanted to set it up as a home computer. Second, I would like a portable monitor that I can take to meetings. It looks and works like new. One good thing for you is that my daughter's laptop doesn't have a USB 3.0 port and this monitor still works fine. (Actually I thought I'd have to return it as I didn't see 3.0 until after it shipped). I didn't even need the second USB port that comes with it. I'm not an expert so judge for yourself, but for me the monitor works fine with a standard USB port.
