This part is a common failure on Hayward brine chlorinators. If your Swimpure appears to be working but the green "Generation" light goes out after a few seconds of operation, this is most likely the problem. This part gets very hot under normal use and will fail after a few seasons of use. Mine lasted a little less than five years. Anyone with basic tools and minimal mechanical skills can replace it. Just be sure to turn off the power before you begin, and remember that a typical 40-watt prong soldering iron doesn't generate enough heat to remove the old part. I used a 150w soldering iron but I'm sure a 100w soldering iron will work as well. If you have a desoldering tool, it's also very handy. Replacing this part myself saved me at least $450. So go broke and buy a vacuum soldering tool.
