Works as it should

I was looking for a way to reinforce a 1" copper tubing feeder I made. Concrete would be cheaper, but trying to pour concrete into a 1 inch diameter pipe would be difficult and messy. The tensile and flexural strength of epoxy is also much higher than that of concrete. I simply put a funnel on top of the pipe and filled it with West System 105 and 205 hardener, which is what makes epoxy the strongest. The feeder is now much stiffer, probably like 1" galvanized pipe or better. It's filled just below the bottom feeder arm, but I'll fill the rest just after drilling drainage holes in the highest part of the arms, which I'll temporarily tape over once the epoxy runs out of the holes. Now I have to figure out how much to mix.

Pros
  • USED WITH WEST SYSTEM 205 Fast Hardener or 206 Slow Hardener at a ratio of 5 parts resin to 1 part hardener, 105 resin will cure to excellent physical properties at room temperature. It has excellent structural bonding properties, can be modified with fillers and additives, and easily coats glass fibers with other porous substrates.
Cons
  • Slightly dented
