Review on Parmida LED Downlight Replacement Installation Lighting & Ceiling Fans by Joseph Marquez

Under the hood: thermal management (let me get carried away)

heat kills white LEDs (or shortens their lifespan) - and I'm very happy with the two thermal management features of this lamp :1) the circuit board is made of aluminum, which dissipates the heat of the LEDs very well. 2) The circuit board is thermally bonded to an aluminum ring of light with a large amount of thermal interface material. Note: Contrary to what another user has claimed, the main body/ring/bezel is white coated aluminum (probably powder coated). The main body is not made of plastic. The lens and the cover on the back are made of plastic. I got these photos because I had a bad one out of the 48 I bought. (The seller agreed to send a replacement.) The problem was cold soldering on the incoming white power wire. Solder pads can be larger to ensure a more secure connection to the wire, but increasing them also makes it harder to get the soldering temperature right (metal PCB works both ways). Only one wire broke out of the 36 I installed, so I think the wire to PCB design is acceptable. I opened this lamp to see how it was assembled. I see 36 large SMT LEDs and a few chips. Note the crappy solder on the board with the white wires is my attempt to fix this bulb, the solder on the black wire is factory - I think the little burned spot is where the white wire shorted out,
