Bought to clean our 10 gallon tank. It does what I want, but not as fast as I want. The pump works perfectly, water enters and shoots out. Alone it creates a nice fountain, maybe a foot or so at maximum power. The Powerslider is easily adjustable. You can easily slide it to increase or decrease power. I have a hose to return water to the tank after siphoning and filtering it. It works, but it runs into trouble when it has to push the water too hard. It's just a limitation on the performance of the pump. I lifted the container it was on and there was no problem. If you don't need to pump water very high, I think this little pump could be suitable for a small fish tank or fountain.
